Breaking Down the Iron BioSeries™ Design

Iron BioSeries™ & Hepcidin

Hepcidin, a hormone that helps regulate iron levels, is typically at its lowest levels in the morning and peaks in the afternoon.2 Higher hepcidin levels can temporarily limit iron absorption, which is why Iron BioSeriesTM is designed to be taken in the morning to release the majority of iron before hepcidin levels peak, while still supporting a slower release for GI comfort.*

Ritual Iron BioSeriesTM in vitro dissolution over the course of 6 hours1 graphed alongside the hepcidin circadian rhythm, adapted from Troutt et al. 2012. The hepcidin circadian rhythm curve depicts the average hepcidin concentrations for 10 healthy individuals collected over 25.5 hours.2

Alternate Day Dosing

Clinical research shows improved iron absorption when iron doses of 60 mg or more are given every other day, as compared with every day,3 which is why Iron BioSeriesTM is formulated with an alternating-day regimen, designed for optimal iron absorption.*
