We Want You to Ask Questions

Seriously. Our team of vitamin experts and scientists has answers.

Can Essential Prenatal help support normal immune function?

More than 97% of women aged 19-50 are not getting enough Vitamin D from their diet. That’s why we include 50 mcg of vegan-certified Vitamin D3 in Essential Prenatal to help support normal immune function.*

Why should I take a prenatal vitamin?

You need to support your own health as your nutrient needs change when pregnancy becomes a possibility—and later, a reality. Once pregnant, you’re growing a baby and need more nutrients to support its development. Taking a prenatal can help with supporting neural tube development and a healthy birth weight.* In a nutshell, the right nutrients help build a healthy foundation for years to come.

What makes Essential Prenatal different from other prenatals?

Essential Prenatal includes 12 nutrients you need to support a healthy pregnancy, in their cleanest and most absorbable forms. No more, no less. Our ingredient forms (and our formulation) are unique: we include Omega-3s from algae rich in DHA and nature-identical Choline, which work together to support brain and cognition development.* We use the first vegan-certified vitamin D3 from wild-harvested lichen, gentle chelated Iron, and methylated Folate. And we keep it all simple: just two citrus-scented, delayed-release capsules designed to be easy on your stomach. And Essential Prenatal is delivered right to your door for just $35/month.

When should I start taking a prenatal?

Research shows that it takes time to reach optimal nutrient levels for conception, and taking a prenatal vitamin at least three months before conception is ideal. However, if you’re even thinking about trying or you’re not not trying, it’s probably a good time to start a prenatal. The first 28 days of pregnancy are important in your baby’s neural development, so there’s really no such thing as “too soon” to start.

What kind of testing do you do?

When we say “total transparency,” we mean it. Each batch of our vitamins is tested for identity, purity, strength, and composition, so we can be sure that what’s on the label is what’s in the capsules. We also use a third party lab to test each batch, twice, for heavy metals, microbes, allergens, and other contaminants, ensuring they are below levels deemed safe by the FDA’s current Good Manufacturing Practices.

How is Essential Prenatal different from Essential for Women?

Essential Prenatal is formulated specifically for the unique nutritional demands of pre-pregnancy and pregnancy. In addition to the nine essential nutrients in Essential for Women, Essential Prenatal includes pregnancy-supporting Biotin, Choline and Iodine*.

How does my subscription work? How can I update my preferences every month?

It’s your Ritual: we’ll send you an email each month, a few days before we charge you and ship your next bottle. You’re free to rush or delay an order, or cancel your subscription, at any time, right from your account page. You’re in control.

What is your packaging made from?

We have gone to great lengths to select ingredients that help to support our bodies. We also select materials that are better for the planet, too. For packaging that meant finding new use for old matter. For example, mailers are made from recovered newsprint and plant fibers, and bottles made from 100% recycled content. Sharing these choices with you is at the core of our mission; It’s why we created the first visible supply-chain of its kind. This is just the beginning of a more traceable future—and we’re committed to keeping you in the loop with every step forward.

I actually take these vitamins. They taste good and are easy to swallow. Since they are delivered monthly I also make more of a point to actually take them.
