While our products are formulated with ingredients backed by the latest science, clinical trials on our final formulation give us that extra validation that the ingredients are actually working.

We also use this investment to advance an intersectional approach to women’s health research, including diverse women in all of our studies.

The Road to Publishing a Clinical Study:

We completed two clinical studies on our beauty ingestible HyaCera, and our Sleep* BioSeries Melatonin product.

Ritual's ingredients are Made Traceable®, which means we publicly share the supplier name and final place of manufacturing for all of our active and other ingredients. While we met our goal in 2022, it’s an ongoing process to ensure all new products meet that bar of transparency.

In 2024 we launched three new products: Fertility Support*, Omega-3 DHA+EPA, and Stress Relief* BioSeries™, and upheld our 100% traceability goal for all the active and other ingredients in each of these products.

Our traceability commitment is non-negotiable, even as macro factors push supply chains to become more and more complex.

In some cases, our traceability goes down to the source, like with our organic regenerative pea farms. With others, we are auditing our raw material suppliers to get past final place of manufacturing and deepen ingredient traceability.

Ritual’s packaging prioritizes diverting materials from landfill and designing for curbside recyclability while prioritizing the integrity of the formulas.

Ritual defines a product or shipping component as “sustainable” if it is either made from recycled materials, recyclable, and/or refillable. Packaging choices are a delicate balance of product integrity and sustainability considerations.

We expanded our partnership with recycling partner Pact Collective. While dropping off eligible empties at your nearest Pact partner is the most sustainable option, Ritual now offers pre-paid labels to ship them to our Pact partners.

Ritual is the first supplement company to publicly share the carbon footprint for every product. But it's not just about measuring and disclosing our carbon footprint, we're using those sophisticated measurements to actively find opportunities to reduce our carbon footprint.

“Net Zero” means we aim to reduce our carbon emissions by 90%, only using offsets after true carbon reductions have occurred. We've spent the last several years getting more sophisticated with our carbon accounting. Through our Life Cycle Analysis (LCA)-based approach, we have built out a very granular view of our entire business which allows us to prioritize the biggest opportunities for reduction.

Other Climate Program Highlights:

— We moved out of our HQ to a shared working space.

— We reduced the carbon footprint of our Essential Protein by 17% by removing the plastic scoop and updating the packaging to include more recycled materials. 

— We offset 4.5M kgs of CO2e through our partnership with ClimeCo by supporting a renewable wind project in South Dakota.

Expecting higher standards for maternal health, from trying to conceive to after you bring baby home.

We cannot achieve reasonable safety and efficacy in the supplement industry without legislative action. 

The FDA, which oversees the vitamin and supplement industry, has acknowledged that they are not equipped to effectively monitor the over 100,000 products currently available to supplement consumers. The Dietary Supplement Health & Education Act (DSHEA) also hasn’t seen any meaningful updates in over 30 years.

We’re urging the FDA to establish health-protective limits for heavy metals in supplements and protein powders — protecting women’s health during critical life stages.

While we work on a Federal level to encourage updates to regulation within the supplement industry, we're also working at the State level. For example, we've been supporting California Senate Bill 646, which aims to increase the transparency of heavy metal test results for all prenatals sold in California.

We advocate for regulatory bodies to establish clear guidelines for how brands use the term, “clinically studied”.
