The Bipartisan Congressional Dietary Supplement Caucus was relaunched by Representative Mike Kennedy, M.D. (R-UT-3) and Representative Marc Veasey (D-TX-33), who will serve as co-chairs. The re-establishment of this Congressional Member Organization (CMO) is a positive step forward for increasing the safety and efficacy of the supplement industry.
According to their filing to the House Committee on Administration, the mission of the caucus is to “discuss…the benefits of dietary supplements, provide tips and insights for better health and wellness, and to promote research into the healthcare savings these products provide.”
"We are excited to see the reintroduction of the bipartisan Congressional Dietary Supplement Caucus. This represents an important step forward in building a supplement industry that prioritizes both safety and effectiveness for all consumers nationwide." - Lindsay Dahl, Chief Impact Officer
Rep. Kennedy stated, “This caucus is a way to support thoughtful discussion around health while ensuring people have the freedom and information they need to make choices that work for them—without being burdened by unnecessary regulatory hurdles."
Rep. Marc Veasey added, “The Dietary Supplement Caucus provides a unique opportunity for bipartisan cooperation on issues that matter to millions of Americans. From public education to regulatory transparency, this forum will help Congress engage more meaningfully with an industry that touches households across the country.”
The Caucus has their first briefing set for July 23, 2025.
We are encouraged to see this progress forward. As a reminder, earlier this year, we sent a new letter to Congress asking them to address key safety and efficacy issues. Read our letter here.
