What Is Boron? Meet the Essential Calcium-Helper*

2 min read

Boron’s Benefits Are Strong

Boron is quietly supporting our bones without begging for praise or attention. Because of its understated benefits, boron has flown under the scientific community’s radar for many years. Despite the fact that the National Academy of Medicine hasn’t set a daily value for boron, research has shown that boron works alongside other bone-supporting nutrients like vitamin D, calcium, and magnesium to support bone health. How? Vitamin D supports calcium absorption and bone maintenance. So as vitamin D’s co-worker, boron helps support our body’s bone health.*

Boron-Rich Food Sources

Boron is an essential structural component of plant cell walls, so it can be readily found in a range of plant-based foods such as avocados, potatoes, raisins and almonds. (2) Seeds, nuts, and veggies contain higher concentrations of boron than fruits and grains, so it’s important for us to consume a range of plants for sufficient intake of boron.

Ritual’s Form of Boron in Our Multivitamins

An adequate level of boron intake has not been determined, but the World Health Organization estimates that an “acceptable safe range” of boron for adults is 1–13 mg/day. (2) Studies have suggested that 0.9 mg/day may help to support bone health in women. Ritual multivitamins contain 0.7 mg/serving of FruiteX-B, a boro-carbohydrate complex that mirrors what’s found in plants. It contains a combo of calcium, boron, and fructose. FruiteX-B is designed to replicate what’s found in nature. Human studies using FruiteX-B showed that it works as a calcium-helper nutrient to help support our bones.*
